Barn Model

The Barn Model is the first barn owl box designed to fit into the side of either a metal or wooden barn and still keep the owls and pest species from access to the interor of the barn.
After a 17.5" square is cut into the barn wall, the box slides in and is fastened to the barn wall from the outside. An expanding foam gasket seals any gaps created by reinforcing ridges to keep weather and pest species out. The lid is then attached with six bolts. (These six plastic bolts and nuts are easily removed later for cleaning.)
Then a lightweight, galvanized metal support is attached beneath the box on the interior. All that remains on the exterior of the barn is the front of the box with its entrance hole, landing ledge, and rain guard. It comes with all the mounting hardware and weighs approximately 14 pounds.

Pole Model

The Pole Model comes with a galvanized-metal mounting-bracket that attaches easily to the top of a wooden 4 x 4, 6 x 6, or to the flange on a metal pole.
This model is designed to be installed in full sun and stay close to ambient temperature. To accomplish this it uses special reflective pigment and an efficient venting system. It is actually two boxes in one: an outer box of highly reflective white plastic, and an inner box of black plastic (to keep it dark for the birds.) The Post Model can also be adapted to mount in trees. It comes with all of the mounting hardware and weighs approximately 25 lbs.

The Barn Owl Box will not rot, will not need to be rebuilt or replaced, and will last indefinitely. Its light weight makes it easy to install, whether on a post, in a barn, or a tree, and each model comes with its own mounting hardware.
Each box features a 5 1/2" entrance hole, a 4" x 8" landing ledge, a removable front, and a Plexiglas viewing window in the rear. Vent holes bring fresh air into the box, and holes in the floor drain away moisture.
